Superkarts! USA today announced a new initiative meant at exploring the possibility of implementing permanent changes to its age requirements for the upcoming SKUSA ProTour. The move comes as an effort to accommodate the influx of international drivers, which have become a staple at national events throughout the country. Beginning with the SKUSA Winter Series in Florida, the racing age minimums for junior and senior single speed IAME classes will be as follows:

SKUSA Confirms New Partnerships And Lower Entry Fees For Winter Series LO206 Racers
Thursday, 13 December 2018 15:55
Superkarts! USA today announced a joint partnership between Rysa Racing, South Florida Karting Club, and AMR Motorplex aimed squarely at helping LO206 racers for the upcoming SKUSA Winter Series. In an effort to promote grassroots competition and newcomers to the sport, the three have combined efforts to offer a promotional pricing entry structure for the second annual championship in Florida.

“We recognize the value LO206 represents to the sport as a whole,” commented SKUSA’s Tom Kutscher. “Getting people in seats is paramount to the long-term vision and we have found some amazing partners to offset the entry fees to make racing at the Winter Series as inexpensive as possible.”

The $450 Senior and Master entry fee for LO206 is nearly $500 less than the comparable IAME classes, and still includes Friday practice, Saturday and Sunday races, and one set of Evinco race tires.

Superkarts! USA Confirms Details For 2nd Annual SKUSA Winter Series Including Colossal $80,000 Prize Package
Wednesday, 28 November 2018 22:29

Superkarts! USA today confirmed long awaited details for their second annual SKUSA Winter Series. The action kicks off the second weekend of 2019 — January 11-13, at AMR Homestead Miami Motorplex presented by MG Tires. The four-race championship will not only begin there, but in a twist of exciting news… end there as well.

“After weighing our options for venues, we were hard pressed finding a better location than Miami,” explained SKUSA’s Tom Kutscher. “The destination is second to none and a great deal of our contingent are fond of the surrounding locations.”

The twist however, is that the second event slated for February 8-10 will see the circuit ran in clockwise configuration (e.g. backwards) providing a different driving experience for Winter Series racers. “Homestead is a circuit with tremendous history,” added Kutscher. “Some of the biggest championship years in Florida have come on the heels of multiple events having been run there. The demand for racing in Homestead is by far the greatest of all the tracks in the area.”

The 2018 season is one of expansion for Superkarts! USA, with the California-based organization reaching across the entire country in a return to its roots. Florida was the beginning grounds for the vision of SKUSA with former owner Don Janowski. Now SKUSA owner/CEO Tom Kutscher was able to rekindle the presence of the organization with the launch of the SKUSA Winter Series. What began with the inaugural event at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex presented by MG Tires in January, completed with the final two rounds of competition at the Ocala Gran Prix in February.

The prize package was solid for all categories, with plenty of opportunity to enjoy more racing throughout the 2018 season. The IAME divisions, except for Micro Swift, competed for the grand prize of a ticket to compete at the IAME International Final in Le Mans, France. A unique opportunity was given throughout all of the championships, with drivers able to select their prizes in order of their finishing position. Champions in IAME and Stock Honda categories were given the opportunity to select their prize, including a full season of racing at the SKUSA Pro Tour, free entry to SKUSA SuperNationals 22, or a free season at the California ProKart Challenge. The champions in the X30 Senior and S1 classes were also provided a set of Fittipaldi Wheels. Formula One and IndyCar champion Emerson Fittipaldi was on hand in Ocala to provide both champions with their prize.

The Ocala Gran Prix circuit played host to the final round of the Superkarts! USA Winter Series over the weekend and crowned the program’s inaugural champion following Sunday’s action on the 0.6-mile, eight-turn circuit in Florida. The new Kart Republic operation earned its first championship after debuting at last November’s SuperNationals, thanks to an impressive four-round combined performance from Lorenzo Travisanutto. The 18-year-old Italian topped the 34-kart X30 Senior category on Saturday, sweeping the day, and then added a third on Sunday to secure the class championship. Fellow Kart Republic driver Brandon Jarsocrak made his debut on the chassis this weekend for KartSport North America and completed the sweep of the mains for KR, winning on Sunday. Musgrave Racing Company’s Billy Musgrave (Aluminos) was the only S1 Pro Stock Honda driver to compete in both weekends, which automatically gave him the title, while Rory van der Steur (FA) topped the combined Stock Honda field on Sunday to win the day and the class championship in the S2 Semi-Pro Stock Honda category. The X30 Junior battle was hard-fought, bordering on reckless at times, and when the dust had settled, Team Montoya’s Sebastian Montoya (TonyK art) used a pair of podium finishes to win the title.
