Perfect weather greeted the drivers of the Superkarts! USA Winter Series on Saturday at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex Presented by MG Tires as blue skies and temperatures approaching the high-70s made it an ideal day. It was definitely ideal for the winning drivers in the Pro categories. PSL Karting’s Matheus Morgatto (Birel ART) turned in a masterful performance in Pro Shifter, sweeping all three sessions to win over Rolison Performance Group’s Danny Formal (Kosmic). In Pro X30, RPG’s Donovan Bonilla (Kosmic) got away from the pack early and stretched away for yet another top-level national win, despite being chased down aggressively in the late going by Sodi Racing USA’s Harley Keeble. The Englishman’s impressive pace has set the stage for what could be a big fight for the title on Sunday.

The 2024 Superkarts! USA Winter Series is set to conclude this weekend – February 2-4 – with the finale event of the seventh season. The AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex presented by MG Tires will host Round Three and Four, welcoming over 200 entries in the nine categories competing in Homestead, Florida.

The 7/10-mile circuit will be revert to the clockwise direction for the second weekend for the 2024 SKUSA Winter Series. Wednesday and Thursday are unofficial practice with Friday hosting five official sessions for testing. Round Three is set for Saturday, including qualifying, Prefinal and Final. Round Four is a repeat format on Sunday. Points will then be combined for a best three of four championship format to decide the 2024 SKUSA Winter Series champions.

Two drivers stood out in the Pro X30 presented by SpeedLab Racing Engines as Ryan Norberg (RPG / Kosmic) eliminated his winless streak dating back to 2022, while Alessandro de Tullio (Inter MS / Kart Republic) showed he is a Homestead master in the wet. It is de Tullio leading the championship based on his runner-up performance to Norberg on Saturday, leading in the points standings by 60 over the five-time SKUSA Pro Tour champion. Jakub Kolar (Vice / Kart Republic) and Thomas Nepveu (Trinity / Kart Republic) both had a podium finish in the opening weekend but will need more this time around, trailing by 105 and 135 entering the weekend. SuperNationals 26 winner Donovan Bonilla (RPG / Kosmic), Harley Keeble (Piquet / Sodi Kart), Brandon Carr (Trinity / Kart Republic), and Diego Ramos (PSL / Birel ART) are among the top contenders for podium and wins. EKN Trackside: 2024 Superkarts! USA Winter Series – AMR1 – Sunday Report

After a thrilling and competitive start to the 2024 season on Saturday, the Superkarts! USA Winter Series returned to AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex presented by MG Tires on Sunday but this time in much different weather conditions. The rain that had been forecast hit the facility hard for the main events, giving those with wet weather prowess an upper hand. Coming off his Pro Shifter victory on Saturday, Rolison Performance Group’s Danny Formal extended his SKUSA event win-streak to three with a dominant triumph on a rain-soaked track. It’s been a little longer since Alessandro de Tullio has been on top of the box in a SKUSA event, but the Inter MS driver dominated the action in what was an action-packed X30 Senior final.

With pouring rain and standing water all over the track, SKUSA officials moved to set the main events by time as opposed laps. The early mains were set at 17 minutes plus a lap, and after a red flag in Micro Swift, that was decreased to 10 minutes plus a lap for the four three mains.

EKN Trackside: 2024 Superkarts! USA Winter Series – AMR1 – Saturday Report
Sunday, 14 January 2024 04:45

The Superkarts! USA Winter Series kicked off the 2024 racing season on Saturday at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex Presented by MG Tires with over 291 entries taking to the 0.7-mile, 12-turn in warm and windy conditions. With the mercury rising to the mid-80s in the high heat of the day and light showers making things interesting in between a few main events, Rolison Performance Group came away with a sweep of the headline Pro classes thanks to veteran performances by superstars Ryan Norberg and Danny Formal.

Heated early race action in the SpeedLab Racing Engines X30 Senior main event opened things up for a three-driver breakaway as top qualifier Ryan Norberg (Rolison Performance Group / Kosmic) led Austin Garrison (Speed Concepts Racing / Redspeed) and Alessandro de Tullio (Inter MS / Kart Republic) through the first half of the race. With Norberg beginning to stretch away from the duo as the race closed on the halfway point, de Tullio realized the situation and moved by Garrison in turn four to take up the chase. While he was able to build a little cushion on Garrison, de Tullio was just not able to reel in the five-time SKUSA Pro Tour champion. Norberg would cruise to a 1.164-second win. The fastest driver at the halfway point was top qualifier Jakob Kolar (Vice Racing / Kart Republic), who passed Canadian Thomas Nepveu (Trinity Karting Group / Kart Republic) for fourth as he put his head down to push for a podium finish.

Rain Tire Update for Winter Series January
Thursday, 11 January 2024 15:36
We will be debuting the new MG SW2 rain tire this weekend. The new tire has more grip and is a considerable amount faster on a full wet track. We will be allowing ONE SET of the new tires to be purchased for each driver/race entry for the weekend. Should we run into conditions on Saturday where we have excessive wear, we will have available and may allow a second set of the new SW2 tires to be utilized for the remainder of the weekend.

The prior model rain tire, the MG SW, will still be allowed for competition this weekend.

Tire sales for the new rain tires will begin at 9am Friday morning at the Vantage/KartSport trailer and will continue until 6pm. These tires will be purchased at retail pricing by the individual driver/entrant and there will be no tire sales to the teams. We will be tracking the one set allowance as they are purchased. You MUST have your “hand print” designed wristband that was included in your SKUSA entry packet to pick up your tires.

You can use the new SW2 set at your discretion, but this will be the only set allowed unless that we declare that everyone can use a second set.

We urge you not to wait until Saturday or Sunday at the last minute as you could risk not getting your tires in time. SO PICK UP YOUR TIRES ON FRIDAY FROM 9AM - 6PM.
