For 15 straight editions of the SKUSA SuperNationals, there’s never been a two-time winner. It’s true, there have been 15 different winners in the X30 Junior / TaG Junior category. Dating back to the category’s debut year in 2008, there has been a unique driver at the top of the podium each SuperSunday. It is a historic list of former winners in the category, including three Formula One drivers – George Russell (2011), Lance Stroll (2012) and Logan Sargeant (2014) – along with two on the cusp of reaching the pinnacle of motorsports – Jak Crawford (2017) and James Wharton (2019).
Turner Brown (Rolison Performance Group) joined that list in 2023, claiming victory on SuperSunday. The two-time SuperNationals winner returns, having finished third in the SKUSA Pro Tour championship with two wins while also competing at the FIA Academy Trophy program overseas, where he placed fifth in the European championship. This year, the California driver has a chance to make history. First, becoming the only driver to win a second time in X30 Junior. Second, can win both Junior categories for a second straight time to become the only driver to do so. Third, if he does win both Junior main events this SuperNationals, he will join the coveted four-win club that includes Connor De Phillippi, Billy Musgrave, Kip Foster, and Danny Formal. SKUSA SuperNationals 27 will be the sixth time that the KA100 Junior category has been offered at the annual event. Since making its debut in 2018 with 35 drivers, the class has grown in numbers each year to now welcome a division-record 82 entries, five more than last year’s event total. Over the previous five editions, five different drivers stood at the top of the podium on SuperSunday, including current F3 driver James Wharton from Australia in 2018 and rising motorsports star Brent Crews in 2019, who earned his first SuperNats triumph.
Turner Brown (Rolison Performance Group) was able to add his name to the win list last year, scoring not only the KA100 Junior victory but also the X30 Junior triumph to become the third different driver to win two Junior categories in the same SuperNationals (Jeremy Fletcher – 2021; Connor De Phillippi – 2005). The 13-year-old has a chance to defend both this year, coming off two wins at the SKUSA Pro Tour in 2024 in KA100 Junior. One category that has continually produced excitement and drama at the SKUSA SuperNationals is Mini Swift. The class has been a category at the SuperNats since 2016 and before that as ‘TaG Cadet’ beginning in 2010. Over the course of 13 previous editions, the class has seen 13 different winners. The list of victors includes Formula One, IndyCar, and NASCAR drivers of today.
During that span, no driver has been able to defend their victory. The opportunity now sits in front of 2023 SuperNationals winner Royce Vega (Team Benik). The Texan had a successful season in 2024 that began with winning the SKUSA Winter Series championship along with the USPKS title this year. He finished with one victory and fourth in the final standings for the SKUSA Pro Tour. Vega was scheduled to compete the week before Vegas at the IAME Warrior Final in Spain, however, the flooding disaster postponed the event to post-SuperNationals at another location in Spain. The Micro Swift division will welcome an eighth different winner during this year’s SuperSunday. The class made its debut in 2016 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, welcoming six different winners from four different countries – Brazil, Great Britian, USA and Australia. The sold out field of 46 drivers features 18 drivers returning from last year while a majority of the field will be making their SuperNationals debut.
The last three Micro Swift winners hail from the USA – Keelan Harvick, Jackson Gibson and Maxwell Macha. The graduation of Macha to the Mini level opens the door for a new driver to add their name to the historic record books. One thing that can be duplicated is a driver winning both the SKUSA Pro Tour championship and the SuperNationals in the same year as Macha did in 2023. Read full story on eKartingNews.com |

The Superkarts! USA organization is in the final planning stages for the upcoming SKUSA SuperNationals 27. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway will play host to the annual event for a third time in its 27 editions, welcoming drivers from all over the world to Las Vegas, Nevada on November 13-17. The 2024 edition is projected to be one of the largest in event history, featuring multiple classes selling out and overall event total has already surpassed the 500-entry barrier. Among the items still left to be confirmed prior to one of the largest karting events in the world is the release of the awards package for the annual race, which includes over $37,000 in cash and an additional $7,000 in prizes.
Superkarts! USA has put together a cash purse for five of the nine categories at SKUSA SuperNationals 27. Pro Shifter will headline the event once again, competing for a $15,000 purse that includes a $10,000 payday to the winner. A $3,000 victory check, part of a total of $7,000, will be awarded in Pro X30, while KA100 Senior, KA100 Junior and Mini Swift will compete for a purse of $5,250. The winner in those three categories will receive a check for $2,500.
