Superkarts! USA Shows Off SuperNationals in New Video
Wednesday, 04 January 2012 00:00
It has always been considered difficult to capture on video the true speed and excitement of competitive karting, especially considering the size and stature of these ultra-quick machines. Many have tried, but few have been able to accomplish this task to its fullest extent. That said, a new high-quality production has been released by Superkarts! USA, one that truly portrays the sights, sounds, colors and thrills from this past year’s SuperNationals. The race is the largest karting event in North America, attracting over 500 racers to the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, including IZOD IndyCar drivers Raphael Matos, EJ Viso, Jay Howard and Martin Plowman. SKUSA is extremely pleased with the new creation, which was shot and edited by Wyatt Lloyd, a karting enthusiast and aspiring motorsports video-journalist. The following is a link to the video, which is being presented on YouTube:

“The SuperNationals is such a spectacle for our sport, bringing together the top drivers from all over the world and mixing them in with the incredible Las Vegas atmosphere. Running during both the daylight and the evening hours gave Wyatt the chance to get some amazing night footage, which looks great in the video,” offered Tom Kutscher, Superkarts! USA President. “We’re extremely pleased with the quality of the production, which I believe to be the best we’ve ever seen. I think that this video is the kind of thing that our racers can now take to the social media channels to really promote the sport. Facebook, Twitter, you name it; we’ve got to get this thing out there. It shows how cool karting is, and I think if we can mobilize our drivers and supporters to get this video to viral status on the Internet, it would be huge for karting in America.”

The highlight video was complied as the initial offering from over 30 hours of raw footage, all captured using several Go Pro HD cameras as well as Lloyd’s Canon 5D Mk 2 SLR camera. It is obvious that the editing and production process is what makes the video stand out from the crowd, and in this effort, Lloyd was aided by long-time SKUSA supporter and graphic wizard Chris Ortenburger. SKUSA is planning additional video productions to help promote the 2012 Pro Tour and, of course, the 16th annual SuperNationals.
