The final day of action at the 2025 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour WinterNationals was contested on Sunday at the Speedsportz Racing Park. A humid and hot day at the New Caney, Texas facility, welcoming the largest event in the 16 year history of the series, closed out the first event to the Lone Star State since 2014. Round Two of this year’s championship was held on the day for seven categories while the Pro Shifter division capped off its weekend with a Prefinal and Final.
The Pro Shifter presented by PSL Karting featured a duel between a new name to the front of the field and a veteran. Gavin Bayliff (TKG / Birelart) came through the heat races on Saturday with a win and the pole position after the points were tabulated. Five-time SKUSA SuperNationals winner Billy Musgrave (Factory Karts) matched his total but started the Prefinal from the outside of the front row. Bayliff led early before Musgrave took over the lead on lap three. Shortly after, a red flag came out for a flip in the second half of the 43 driver field. All drivers walked away. Musgrave handled the restart, fending off the early pressure and drove away to a 1.4 second advantage to claim the pole position for the Final. Bayliff was able to secure the holeshot to begin the 25-lap main event with Musgrave slotting into second. The two pushed away from the rest of the field over the opening laps. On lap eight, Musgrave moved to the lead and led until lap 14. Musgrave retook the top spot on lap 19 and they ran that way until the final lap. Musgrave went defensive with Bayliff waiting until turn 14. A center punch bump and run pushed Musgrave wide enough for Bayliff to slip underneath, getting to the apex at turn 15 first and going on to cross the line for his first SKUSA Pro Tour victory. Musgrave settled for second with defending champion Matheus Morgatto (PSL / Birelart) holding off Kiwi Jay Urwin (PSL / Birelart) with top qualifier Charlie Stines (Fury / GP Kart) right there in fifth to cap off an amazing weekend for the Indiana driver.

The Superkarts! USA ProKart Challenge series hosted the fourth round of the 2025 season, returning to the K1 Circuit. Also the site of the opening two rounds of the championship chase back at the beginning of March, the Winchester, California facility welcomed over 150 entries on June 21-22 for an action-packed weekend of racing. The second visit of 2025 to the K1 Circuit featured a revised ‘Pro Track’ configuration that utilized the D2 chicane and cut-through at turn eight.
The Formula Works KA100 Senior class saw Keagan Kaminski gain a fourth straight victory on the season. The weekend began with Lanie Benjamin becoming the third different top qualifier on the year, posting a 51.583 lap time to top the 43-driver field. Kaminski was back in the eighth spot after the timed session. The championship leader drove up to the top spot in the 10-lap Prefinal, taking the race win over Gavin McCune and Jackson Menchu. It was Kaminski and Menchu exchanging the lead multiple times over the first half of the 20-lap Final. Kaminski secured the lead on lap 11, driving away to a one-second advantage victory. McCune was able to win the battle for second over Menchu to complete the podium. Izaac Gutierrez was right there in fourth, recording the fast lap of the race with Shea Aldrich in fifth.

Starting immediately, the named organizations and their affiliated series will be working together to raise the level of professionalism in the sport of karting in the United States, both on the track and in the paddock.
We will be working together closely to develop a system which honors the disciplinary actions taken by one organization or series, across all named organizations and affiliated series. Our series will no longer be a place for bad behavior, to include, but not limited to both acts and threats of violence. No competitor or attendee should have to worry about their physical safety at karting events in the United States and no longer will these bad actors be able to simply take that behavior to another series. |

It’s the big one. The race everyone in the paddock will be watching from the stands and along the fences on SuperSunday. What began as the S1 division where Alex Barron, Darren Elliott, Memo Gidley, and Scott Speed claimed the first four victories morphed into the Super Pro division. By 2007, the class grabbed international attention with the victory by Italian Marco Ardigo, bringing new winners in Jonathan Thonon, Bas Lammers, Anthony Abbasse, and Paolo de Conto. A total of 10 different countries has been represented on the top step of the podium in the headline shifterkart division at the SKUSA SuperNationals over the past 27 editions.
The dramatic finish to SuperNationals 27 saw Romanian Daniel Vasile (Italkart Factory Racing) earn his first SuperNationals triumph, becoming the 19th different winner over the 27-year span. Vasile will make his third start at the SuperNationals next week, seeking to become the third driver to earn back-to-back victories in the category. Vasile was 11th in the FIA Karting World Championships this year. Read full story on eKartingNews.com |
