Oakley Confirmed as SKUSA SuperNationals XIII Sponsor
Tuesday, 25 August 2009 08:09
With news of Superkarts! USA’s return to the Rio All-Suite Las Vegas Hotel and Casino, the 13th annual SKUSA SuperNationals is once again poised to be one of the biggest kart races in the world. Wasting no time and only days after the official announcement, prestigious eyewear and apparel manufacturer Oakley has confirmed a return to sponsoring the marquee karting event.

Oakley has pledged another significant involvement for this year’s race, underscoring their commitment to the sport of karting as a whole - and its ‘Superbowl’ event in the SuperNationals. “Last year was Oakley’s first at the SuperNats and we were absolutely blown away,” commented Oakley’s motorsport marketing manager Todd Hayes. “The caliber of the event, the competition, and the buzz the entire race generates aligns perfectly with our brand.”

The partnership for 2009 will closely resemble the format for 2008, with Oakley offering a tremendous prize and purse package for various classes and race competitors. With Super Pro once again the pinnacle event of the weekend, drivers from all over the world will be left to compete for this year’s array of cash and product. Last year it was Belgium’s Jonathan Thonon making a clean sweep of the event, as the multi time world champion added a SuperNationals victory to his resume. In the process, Thonon also went home as the proud owner of an Oakley Minute Machine watch, and the one of a kind Oakley “Lead Foot” pole award.

“It’s a tremendous honor having Oakley back on board for 2009,” commented an excited Tom Kutscher. “The guys there really get what we’re trying to do with the sport, and their involvement last year was significant to say the least. We’re pleased to have them back again for lucky number 13.”

In addition to Oakley’s prize contributions, the company will have their unique and innovative corporate vehicle displays throughout the facility. Oakley representatives will be giving free product demonstrations to all in attendance and offering another meet and greet weenie roast for fans and competitors.

“With the news of the race just being released, and to already have a commitment from them… it’s saying a lot,” added Kutscher. “It’s great to see a company like Oakley finding value in what we bring to the table, and it’s motivating for not just myself, but the entire SKUSA staff. “

While the event is still months away, starting November 18, the race is quickly shaping up to be even bigger than last year’s. More details of Oakley’s prize package will be announced leading up to the event with a complete breakdown of purses and products.
