SuperNationals XII Official After Party Set for Rio’s VooDoo Lounge
Tuesday, 19 August 2008 17:58
With this year’s SKUSA SuperNationals quickly becoming the biggest ever in the event’s illustrious history, entries are flooding in to the SKUSA offices faster than ever. And while overall competition and racing command SKUSA’s highest focus, this year’s event also underscores the organization’s commitment to not only improving the experience on the track, but off of it as well.

In SuperNationals past, many ideas have been tossed around with regards to creating exciting events away from the track. They’ve ranged from poker tournaments, to live bands, and everything in between. Yet with logistical challenges in the race schedule or a lack of planning, nothing has ever materialized – until now. For this year’s event, Superkarts! USA and their long time creative partner Eyenovation Multimedia are proud to announce the inaugural SuperNationals official after party.

This year’s first ever after party will take place high above the racing surface, 51 stories to be exact - at the famed VooDoo Lounge rooftop night club, in the Rio Hotel’s Masquerade tower. The club offers panoramic views of the entire Las Vegas strip, and will offer a relaxed environment for racers and fans to enjoy camaraderie after the weekend’s festivities. Best of all – the price of admission to SuperNationals fans and participants? Zero.

“I’ve been to nearly every SuperNationals since the beginning, and I’ve always seen a void when it came to activities away from the track,” commented Chris Ortenburger of Eyenovation Multimedia. “In the past, I know people have expressed interest in trying to organize something, but for whatever reason it’s never happened. Yet come Sunday night, you end up seeing karters randomly scattered all over the strip – it just seemed like a missed opportunity.”

For this year, the aim is to corral everyone for a few hours after the event for lighthearted fun, laughs, and smiles. All SuperNationals XII guests 21 and over will be granted free admission and priority access into the prestigious VooDoo Lounge (capacity permitting), from the hours of 7–10 PM. Guests can enjoy one of many modestly priced VooDoo lounge signature cocktails, or groove the night away to the sounds live cover bands and DJ’s spinning mainstream top 40 music.

“It’s all about steady progress,” commented SKUSA CEO Tom Kutscher. “Obviously we’re excited to be back at the Rio hotel this year. And while the emphasis is always going to be the racing, we also want to try and step it up away from the track. I’ve been approached about doing these things many times, but few people ever want to put their neck on the line. Eyenovation’s done the leg work with the Rio Hotel to make this happen, and it’s been no small feat.”

Further details regarding the event will be forthcoming, including information about obtaining wristbands for admission, dress code, and table reservations for those interested. One thing is for certain, however – with free admission into one of the hottest nightclubs in Las Vegas, it should be a blast. All in attendance for the SuperNationals are encouraged to make necessary travel arrangements to attend while there are still a limited number of rooms available for Sunday night.

“It’s an experiment, admittedly,” commented Eyenovation’s Ortenburger. “Even getting the hotel to waive the cover charge for SKUSA proved to be a big challenge! Hopefully once the Rio sees how… thirsty… karters get after a long weekend of racing, we can negotiate more in the future. It’s hopefully the start of something bigger and I hope to see everyone there.”

eKartingNews.com and Go Racing Magazine have already committed a presence at the after party and will feature exclusive lifestyle galleries from the party. Make your plans to attend this inaugural event and look for more information regarding specifics soon.
