The time to go all-in is here…the week of the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals XIV is upon us. Roughly 365 days after one of the most spectacular karting events, the best in the sport are back at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino to once again battle underneath the Vegas limelight around the temporary for SuperNats glory in 11 different categories.

Since November 8, EKN has been profiling (see Event Page) each of the 11 classes with a record-breaking 483 entries set to compete at this year’s event. Three of the divisions will welcome over 40 drivers (TaG Senior, S4, TaG Junior) while the rest have reached their maximum number of entries to ensure the full fields. Highlighting this year’s event will be three ‘Pro’ categories – TaG Senior, KZ2, and the new S1 Pro Stock Moto class. Each will see the best in North America and around the world battle it out for victory.

To the victor in the KZ2 (formerly SuperPro) division, $10,000 will once again find the hands of that driver who overcomes all obstacles with another 10k for the rest of the podium finishers. In addition to the $1,000 pay check for the S1 and TaG Senior winners, Vegas signals the finale for the inaugural SKUSA Pro Tour and $5,000 in cash to the champions. For all nine champions in the Pro Tour, each will be provided with complimentary entreies for the 2011 Pro Tour, including next year’s SuperNationals and the coveted #1 national plate and visor strip. Also included for the TaG Cadet titlist will be a trip to compete at the 2011 Rok Cup International Final in Italy, thanks to the support program from Vortex race engines.

For 2010, Superkarts! USA has partnered with French watchmaker Bernard Richards Manufacture (BRM) to provide the winners in TaG Senior and S4 Master Stock Moto with a one of a kind, custom-built commemorative watch, worth approximately $5,000 USD. In total, this year’s SKUSA SuperNationals will feature a record-setting prize package of over $70,000.

This year’s facility is roughly identical to the course and layout used one year ago, giving those who competed at last year’s event a possible edge. The schedule is also similar with positive comments following the split schedule that put half the categories competing in the first half of the day with the rest making up the afternoon portion of the schedule. Wednesday kicks off two days of practice for drivers to become accustom to the 6/10-mile circuit with four rounds for all divisions. Thursday will be the same with four more seven-minute sessions for each group. Following warm-ups, qualifying will take place along with the first round of heat races (12 laps each with Cadet running 10) to fill up Friday’s schedule. Saturday will compete the two final rounds of heat races to set the grids for SuperSunday. TaG Senior, TaG Junior and S4 will run Last Chance Qualifiers following the warm-ups with opening ceremonies to begin at 9:30am. The 11 main events are set to begin around 10:00am with no breaks in between.

eKartingNews.com will be providing exclusive Trackside Live coverage for those unable to attend this year’s event. Their EKN LIVE page will display the SKUSA Live Timing feed throughout the event with SuperNationals announcer and EKN Editor-in-Chief Rob Howden giving play-by-play for 22 hours over three days, beginning with Qualifying on Friday. EKN will broadcast live for all qualifying session, heat races, LCQ and main events in addition to their regular trackside coverage that includes the popular top-10 following each on track session on the Official Event Discussion and daily reports. For anything else you need, head to the hub of EKN’s coverage – the EKN Event Page. For those looking to get an inside view of the event, EKN has inlisted 11 drivers – one in each category – to provide an event blog with their descriptions of the event. Be sure to check out the Driver Diaries section of the forums.
