Josh Conquer became the first Canadian to win the Pro Shifter division (Photo: EKN) The 2025 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour SpringNationals ended on Sunday at the Motorsports Country Club of Cincinnati. It was another dry day of racing at the Batavia, Ohio facility, with sunny skies turning into overcast conditions and cooler temperatures all weekend compared to the 2024 version of the event. The MCC crew went all out, bringing in a fly over and live national anthem to celebrate the Memorial Day weekend prior to the eight main events on the day. USA drivers claimed five of the eight wins on the day with Canadian Josh Conquer (Maranello USA) becoming the first from north of the border to claim victory in the Pro Shifter category. The PSL Karting Pro Shifter held its Prefinal and Final on the day, led by AJ Myers (Magik Kart USA) and Corentin Rousseau (Catalyst / Italkart) to begin the 14-lap Prefinal. Myers led the opening few laps before Rousseau took control, earning the win and the pole position for the Final. Jay Urwin (PSL / Birelart) and Josh Conquer (Maranello USA) fought for third, and earned the row two starting spots as Billy Musgrave (Factory Karts) and Michael Avansino (RWR / CRG) made up row three after finishing fifth and sixth. Rousseau grabbed the holeshot to begin the 25-lap main event as Myers and Conquer fought for the second spot. By lap seven, Conquer had earned the spot and Myers unfortunately began to trickle down the order, missing the setup on the day. Rousseau had a roughly two-second gap by the halfway point, however, Conquer continued chipping at it. By lap 21, he was close enough to get the draft and look for ways by. It was on lap 22 that Conquer made the bold pass attempt into the downhill section, getting the apex first, and powering away with the position. Rousseau had to check up, lost ground and went on the defensive with Urwin right there. The move for Conquer gave him enough real estate to cruise to victory, claiming his first career SKUSA Pro Tour triumph. Rousseau held on for second at the line, however, did not pass tech inspection with the engine. That promoted Urwin to runner-up and Kyle Wick (GFC Karting) – who started seventh – onto the podium in third. Frenchman Adrien Renaudin (Velocity / Sodi Kart) won the battle for what was not fourth over defending champion Matheus Morgatto (PSL / Birelart), Myers, Jacob Gulick (GFC Karting) and Musgrave all within one second at the line. Gus Lawrence won in his SKUSA Pro Tour debut weekend in Pro X30, leading green to checkered (Photo: EKN) Round Four in the Kart CRG USA Pro X30 category was a sweep by British driver Gus Lawrence (RPG / Kosmic). Making his first start at the SKUSA Pro Tour on the weekend, Lawrence set fast time of 55.210 to lead the field to the green in the Prefinal. He along with Pauly Massimino (BJR / LN Racing Kart) and Spainard Ruben Moya (FDM / Pantano) battled for the top spot with Lawrence coming away with the win. Lawrence was able to get away at the start of the Final as Massimino was caught up in contact, dropping him all the way back to 24th on the opening circuit. Austin Garrison (SCR / CS55) assumed the second spot, however, Lawrence had already established a comfortable lead through the opening circuit. Lawrence maintained the gap throughout the 20 laps, going wire-to-wire for his first SKUSA Pro Tour victory. Garrison eventually came under fire from six-time champion Ryan Norberg (RPG / Kosmic) – who started eighth and drove up to third with fast laps of the race. With two laps to go, Norberg was on Garrison’s bumper and the two fought all the way to the checkered flag, including banging sidepods as they crossed the line. Garrison got to the ahead of Norberg, however officials penalized Austin three seconds for ‘driving down’ on the #1 plate. This promoted Norberg to second with Moya joining them on the podium in third. Garrison was placed sixth overall as Diego Ramos (PSL / Birelart) and Senior rookie Ty Fisher (TB Kart USA) completed the top five.Defending champion James Overbeck claimed his first win of the 2025 season in KA100 Senior (Photo: EKN) Four different drivers have won over the first four rounds in the Nash Motorsportz KA100 Senior division. Round Two victor Diego Ramos (PSL / Birelart) set fast time in qualifying with a 57.934 to clear the 43 driver field by over a tenth. A heated Prefinal battle ended with Round Three winner Pauly Massimino (BJR / LN Racing Kart) coming away with the top spot over Ramos and Fernando Luque (BJR / LN Racing Kart). Lots of shuffling took place over the first half of the 20-lap Final. Massimino, Ruben Moya (FDM / Pantano), Jose Carlos Hernandez (Orsolon / Tony Kart) all took turns at the lead. Hernandez was shuffled back on lap six and the next lap, was spun around, ending his day early. Up front, Massimino took control and would be joined by defending champion James Overbeck (BJR / Tony Kart) – who started seventh. Overbeck took over the lead at the halfway point with Massimino on his bumper as Brandon Lemke (SCR / CS55) and Donovan Bonilla (RPG / Kosmic) trailed. They ran unchanged until the final two laps. Lemke and Bonilla fought for the third spot while on the final circuit, Massimino was able to get around Overbeck entering the back section of the track. Leading coming onto the front straight, Overbeck got a better run and was able to win the drag race to the line, earning his first victory of the season by just 74 thousandths over Massimino for a Brandon Jarsocrak Racing 1-2 finish. Lemke won the race to third as Ramos was able to slip past Bonilla for the fourth spot at the line.Scott Presti added a second win on the year in Master Shifter (Photo: EKN) The Rocket Racing Company Master Shifter category produced drama all day once again for the eight-driver field. Round Two winner Scott Hargrove (Catalyst / Italkart) was able to clear the field by three tenths of a second in Qualifying with a 53.691 lap. He went on to lead all 10 laps of the Prefinal before he was removed from the win, coming through tech too wide. This put him eighth on the grid and promoted Round One winner Scott Presti (Presi / Croc Promotion) to the pole position for the Final. Presti and Scott ‘Skitchy’ Barnes (Maranello USA) were able to get away from the field to begin the 20-lap Final as Hargrove fought his way through the pack. By lap seven, he was up into third and ran down Barnes for second in just three laps. Now into second, Hargrove looked to cut the advantage Presti had established, however on lap 15, Hargrove pulled off after his exhaust broke free from the engine, suffering a DNF. Presti went on to earn redemption after having his win on Saturday taken away in tech, earning his second victory of the season. Barnes was second with Larry Pegram (TKG / Birelart) on the podium in third. Justin Kelly (Maranello USA) and Pierce Baldus (Kart CRG USA) rounded out the top five.Travis Pettit earned his first SKUSA Pro Tour victory in KA100 Junior (Photo: EKN) For the first time in SKUSA Pro Tour history, two drivers were able to win both Junior classes in the same day on the same weekend. Saturday was Alexander Vanchev (RPG / Kosmic) while Sunday the honor went to Travis Pettit (SCR / CS55). In the sold out TKG Birelart USA KA100 Junior class, Pettit was eighth after qualifying as Max Weiland (Magik Kart USA) set fast time with a 58.915 lap. It would be Nathan Dupuis (Nash / EOS) that came away from the Prefinal with the win over Weiland while Pettit moved up to fourth behind Jackson Gibson (RPM / Tony Kart). It was Dupuis, Weiland and Pettit in the lead group with Pettit sitting back in third as the other two swapping for the lead throughout the first 17 laps. With three laps remaining, they began fighting and eventually the group became six drivers. Travis was able to put himself into second and take the lead away from Weiland on lap 19. Pettit held on through the final circuit, holding off Weiland at the line by 46 thousandths to claim his first SKUSA Pro Tour victory. Weiland, along with Gibson who finished third, were removed from the results following tech inspection on their engines. This promoted Max Cristea (JHDD / Kart Republic) up to the second step with Alexander Vanchev (RPG / Kosmic) into third coming all the way up from 15th. Round Two winner Cole Medeiros (REM / Kosmic) was fourth with Alessandro Truchot (Parolin Motorsport USA) fifth in his 2025 debut weekend. Two wins on the day for Travis Pettit, gaining the victory X30 Junior (Photo: EKN) The Rolison Performance Group X30 Junior class began the day with Nathan Golseth (RPM / Tony Kart) and Max Weiland (Magik Kart USA) at the top of the order. Golseth set fast time in qualifying with a 56.349 while Weiland came out of the Prefinal with the win over Golseth and Saturday winner Alexander Vanchev (RPG / Kosmic). Fourth was Travis Pettit (SCR / CS55) after the 10 lap heat race, putting him on the outside of row two. The start began with heartbreak for Golseth as he was involved in contact, ending his race early. Vanchev and Pettit were able to break away but eventually were caught by a big group to set up for a wild final two laps. Pettit was leading when Cole Medieros (REM / Kosmic) was able to come to the white flag as the leader. Pettit made a strong move early on the final lap to get around Medeiros and held the spot through to the checkered flag, earning his second victory on the day. Weiland won the race for third ahead of Ashton Woon (SCR / CS55) and Jackson Gibson (RPM / Tony Kart). Gibson however was removed from the results for a tech infraction, promoting Sarah Bradley (SCR / Sodi Kart) to fifth.Wynn Godschalk earned a second straight in Mini Swift (Photo: EKN) Wynn Godschalk (Team Benik) was able to double up on the weekend in the Speed Concepts Racing Mini Swift class. Sunday’s round of racing was not a sweep as Round One winner Jayden Francisco (RPM / Nitro Kart) posted the quickest lap in Qualifying with a 1:02.623 lap as Godschalk was second in the order. Francisco led the first three laps of the Prefinal before Godschalk took over and went on to win. It was three different drivers leading in the first half of the Final with Godschalk, Francisco and Maxwell Macha (Velocity / Sodi Kart) all leading. At the halfway point, Godschalk took control of the lead and from there, was able to hold off the group to secure his second straight victory. Zayne Burgess (SCR / Sodi Kart) was the driver on the moving, coming up from 13th on the grid after a penalty in the Prefinal. By lap three, he was up into the top five. Running fourth in the closing laps, Burgess moved up to second, crossing the line for the runner-up result ahead of Francisco and Round Two winner Enzo DiGennaro (Parolin Motorsport USA). Macha recorded the fast lap of the race, finishing fifth.Double win weekend for Aidan Go in Micro Swift (Photo: EKN) Both Cadet categories saw double winners as Aidan Go (Parolin Motorsport USA) was able to go back-to-back on the weekend in the Velocity Racing by Sodi USA Micro Swift class. Go set fast time in Qualifying with a 1:03.574 to edge out Dutch Westbrook (Team Benik) by 78 thousandths. In the Prefinal, Go led the first five laps until Lenox Lockhart (Velocity / Sodi Kart) charged up from fifth to take control of the lead and earn the win. From the outside of the front row, Go jumped out to the lead in the 18-lap Final and established a gap over the group fight for second. Westbrook and Lockhart were able to work together to reel back in Go in the closing laps. Despite the pressure, Go held off the challenge and secured a wire-to-wire victory for his second triumph on the weekend. Westbrook ended up second with Brody Stoffle (JHDD / Kart Republic) slipping past Lockhart on the final circuit for the third step on the podium. Slate Harrell (RPM / Nitro Kart) was fifth in his 2025 SKUSA Pro Tour debut. The 2025 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour is set to conclude with the running of the SKUSA SummerNationals, scheduled for July 25-27 at the New Castle Motorsports Park. This year’s champions will be decided with the final weekend of the season. |
