Entry Caps Lifted for Fikse Wheels Pro Tour SummerNationals
Thursday, 09 July 2015 17:39

There has been an incredible buzz surrounding the 2015 Fikse Wheels Pro Tour SKUSA SummerNationals since the day that it was announced that the race would be held at the popular New Castle Motorsports Park in Indiana. The top-notch facility is on the racing ‘bucket list’ for many West Coast competitors, and high interest was quickly received from East Coast drivers who have not yet had the chance to sample national level SKUSA racing. Add in the excitement of the CBS Sports Network coverage, and the entry numbers for the most popular category in American karting – TaG Senior – have gone through the roof. The class quickly sold out to the cap of 44 drivers, and with numerous racers filing their intent to enter by getting on the wait list, Superkarts! USA has elected to open the class to an amazing 88 entries. This will be the largest TaG Senior race of the year held thus far in 2015. To complete the invitation to race, SKUSA has decided to also lift the cap on the TaG Cadet class to meet the growing demand of racers that have caused that class to max out at 44, as well.

Drivers who have not yet entered can get registered at http://www.skusastore.com before the Sunday, July 19 pre-registration cut-off date, along with ordering their practice tires and fuel ahead of time. Pit spot reservations are required through Superkarts! USA for the SummerNationals event. Information regarding rental tents, camping, catering, and the pit map is available HERE. For the first time in the history of the Pro Tour, the track will be open for practice on Thursday during ‘NCMP-organized’ sessions from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Complete information about the venue, weekend schedule, and other details can be found on the SKUSA SummerNationals Event Page.

“We’ve been non-stop in the office, working 15-hour days to get all of our drivers registered and ready. It’s pretty exciting to get so many entries from drivers who have never run with us before,” offered Patti Kutscher, SKUSA Director of Registration and Administration. “I want to thank them all for their interest in running with SKUSA at New Castle, and I hope they have a great time. We also want to remind the rest of our drivers that if they want to be part of the SuperNationals Priority Pre-Entry Program, they need to be entered for the SummerNats by this Friday night! Judging by the numbers we’re seeing, getting first dibs at a SuperNationals entry is going to be important.”

Indeed, for racers who ran in the Fikse Wheels Pro Tour SpringNationals in May and wish to secure themselves a spot in the 19th annual SuperNationals, they must be entered in the SummerNationals by July 10 to qualify for the 2015 SuperNationals PPEP. Once they have done so, they will need to complete the qualification form online between July 11 and July 20 (by 7:00 pm PDT) to secure placement in the SuperNationals PPEP. The online qualification form will be posted by July 11. A confirmation via auto-email will then be sent to those competitors who complete the form before the deadline. Those drivers entered into, and confirmed qualified for the SuperNationals PPEP, will receive a second email on Tuesday, July 28 with their custom link to register and pay online for their SuperNationals race pre-entry. Competitors will have until Thursday, August 6 at 7:00 pm (PDT) to use that link and register before PPEP registration closes and their secured position is lost. Online registration for SuperNationals XIX will open to the public on Monday night, August 10 at 7pm PDT, making the remaining spots in each class available online only as first come-first served until the class cap is reached. Once each SuperNationals class sells out, a wait list will be started.

The entry list for the upcoming SummerNats event is already stacked and features many of finest drivers in North America and beyond. After the addition of several of the wait list competitors in TaG Senior, the number currently sits at 52 pilots as the SKUSA staff continues to process entries. TaG Cadet also capped out at 44 entries, but will now open for more, with wait list drivers welcomed into the fun. S2, S4 and TaG Junior are all close to topping the 30-kart mark that will make them eligible for the $1000 weekend purse. All signs point towards the potential for this race being the largest turnout, except for the SuperNationals, of course, in the six-year history of the Fikse Wheels Pro Tour.

Last but certainly not least, the TV cameras will once again be filming all the action from trackside. SKUSA continues to evolve their CBS Sports Network television package, and a total of six classes will receive extended coverage during the Fikse Wheels Pro Tour SummerNationals broadcasts. The current plan will see TaG Senior, TaG Cadet and S4 Master Stock Moto in the opening show and TaG Junior, TaG Master and S2 Semi-Pro Stock Moto in the second show. The confirmed entries of many new SKUSA racers will certainly put some new faces into the CBS coverage for this exciting event. The broadcasts are expected to air in early August and will then be available on-demand at MotorTrendOnDemand.com.
