It’s been four years since Austin Garrison won the SKUSA Pro Tour S2 Semi-Pro Stock Honda in 2014, and the Formula Works CompKart driver starred in his S1 Pro rookie debut, avoiding an early race incident that collected a few of the frontrunners before going on to pass TB Kart USA’s AJ Myers for the win. Rolison Performance Group’s Pedro Lopes (Kosmic) was also on his game to win the S2 main event. In X30 Senior, RPM’s Jake Craig (Tony Kart) showed why he is one of the absolute best in the sport, stretching away on the rear bumper of Christian Brooks (CRG) before assuming the lead to take the win. Aluminos drivers Jimmy McNeil and John Crow scored the S4 Master and Super Master wins, while Phil Giebler Racing’s Jess Peterson (Birel ART) stood on top of the X30 Master podium. Matheus Morgatto (Parolin) overcame the tremendous competition to win in X30 Junior, while Jeremy Fletcher (Tony Kart) and Caleb Gafrarar (Parolin) scored their first SKUSA Pro Tour WinterNationals wins in Mini Swift and Micro Swift, respectively. EKN Trackside: 2018 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour – WinterNationals Preview – Part 2
Thursday, 01 March 2018 12:00

The 2017 championship chase in X30 Senior went down to the wire, and was the closets finish in SKUSA Pro Tour history for the category. Looking at the returning drivers and contenders for 2018, it could be just as competitive for the SKUSA crown. The king on the throne for the past two seasons as been Florida driver Ryan Norberg. A privateer in 2016 that won three main events used consistent finishes last year to remain as the champion in 2017, helping him to also earn the EKN Driver of the Year honor. The SKUSA #1 still remains on the side of his Birel ART machine into the new season, still holding the bulls-eye as the driver to beat.

SKUSA #2 and #3 Jake Craig and Brandon Jarsocrak are returning. Craig (Tony Kart), the 2014 champion, came four points short of a second title, losing out to Norberg. The California driver returns having shown well as the eKartingNews.com representative at the Mazda Road to Indy Scholarship Shootout. Jarsocrak is entering a new era. Still with KartSport North America, the ‘Shillington Slingshot’ has moved over to the Kart Republic brand. Jarsocrak won in his debut on the chassis at the SKUSA Winter Series, and the brand won the championship with Italian Lorenzo Travisanutto. Read full story on eKartingNews.com

EKN Trackside: 2018 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour – WinterNationals Preview – Part 1
Thursday, 01 March 2018 11:58

The field in the S1 Pro Stock Honda category is only at 14 drivers, but year after year the competition level seems to increase. This season is a great mix of returning stars and graduating S2 drivers. Of course, the SKUSA #1 plate is the ultimate goal. The bulls-eye is 2017 SKUSA Pro Tour champion Jake French (Sodikart). The Texan has a string of podium finishes dating back to 2016 SummerNationals, helping him to earn the title in 2017. The 2017 eKartingNews.com Driver of the Year scored his first Pro Tour victory at the WinterNationals last year, gearing to begin the title defense with another victory or two. Chasing him was Billy Musgrave. The Aluminos driver ended 2017 on a high note, winning at the SuperNationals. A race winner on the SKUSA Pro Tour for the past three years, Musgrave is aiming to finish the year with the SKUSA #1 plate. Read full story on eKartingNews.com

Superkarts! USA has confirmed its class structure for the 2018 Pro Tour, which will continue to feature the Stock Honda and IAME categories (Photo: On Track Promotions - otp.ca)

With the sport in a continuing phase of evolution, Superkarts! USA has its eye focused on providing as much stability as possible for its customers. SKUSA’s move to the IAME product line for the single-speed classes have done just that, solidifying that segment of their program. Heading into the 2018 season, SKUSA would like to confirm that all five IAME categories will be back on the Pro Tour. For the coming season, they will be joined for the ninth straight year by the Stock Honda as the gearbox engine of choice. The primary adjustment will be a move to a pair of combined Stock Honda classes for the Pro Tour – Pro Shifter and Master Shifter – matching the approach that will be used in the inaugural SKUSA Winter Series in January and February. For 2018, S1 Pro and S2 Semi-Pro will be combined in favor of a single Pro Shifter class. S4 Master and S4 Super Master will race together as Master Shifter, but will be scored separately and will celebrate post-race with their own podium presentations.
