SuperKarts! USA Announces Date Change For 24th Annual SKUSA SuperNationals And Exclusivity For Rio All-Suites Hotel And Casino For 2021
Saturday, 24 April 2021 22:39

After a disappointing 2020 which saw SKUSA forced to postpone the SuperNationals due to COVID-19, the Temecula based series is proud to announce more confirmed details for the 24th running of the event in 2021.

First and foremost, the race is 100% a go. However, to accommodate the Rio Hotel’s pandemic reopening schedule, the dates for the 24th SuperNationals will be moved to December 1-5, 2021. The Rio’s contractual commitment to the World Series of Poker forced the schedule change and necessitated SKUSA moving to a different weekend in order to secure the parking lot.

The SKUSA SuperNationals will be the sole karting event at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino in 2021. We expect a capacity crowd thanks to pent up demand and a year hiatus. We are looking to open pre-entry as early as June and encourage teams and drivers to plan accordingly. Customers will be able to play fast payout online casino in roulette or poker.

Hotel accommodations and the parking area will see space in short supply. In addition to the race commencing in the parking lot, the Rio will also be hosting a country festival in the convention areas. More details to be announced, pitting will be limited.

The entire Superkarts! USA Team is eager to get back to Las Vegas and is counting down the days until December.

For our SKUSA Mexico racers to the south, please be advised – the 6th round of the championship will be moved to the weekend previously held by the SuperNationals. So, the December 3-5 dates for SKUSA Mexico will be moved to November 19-21, 2021. We have announced a prize package for SKUSA Mexico that includes entries at the 2021 SuperNationals.

Fuel/Oil Separation
Written by Lynn Haddock - National Tech Director
Friday, 23 April 2021 10:43
Recently we have had a few reports of fuel / oil separation. All of these came from area's where the weather is still quite cold (below 40 degrees). While these reports have been very isolated, we want to remind everyone of a couple of basic practices to help avoid problems in this regard:
  • Never leave mixed fuel in the tank overnight. It should always be drained back into a sealed container.
  • Mixed fuel should always be stored in the warmest available place.
  • Mixed fuel should always be vigorously shaken before pouring into the karts tank.
Please remember, the ELF 909 oil we use is an SAE-50 weight so extra care needs to be taken to ensure a good mix is attained.

CORRECTED: Tech Updates
Friday, 16 April 2021 01:00
Back in early January 2021, the use of an alternate plug was approved for use in the KA100 and X30 engines due to a worldwide shortage of the normal plug. This shortage has now ended so effective immediately, the NGK R6252K-105 and NGK R6254-105 will again be the mandatory spark plug required in dry conditions for X30 per 20.3.4.11.2

Also please take note of several new rules / changes:
  • 20.2.5.3 - New minimum kart width rules
  • X30 Engines - New one piece exhaust system as defined in the Supplemental rules.

EKN Trackside: 2021 SKUSA WinterNationals – NOLA Sunday Report

After enjoying a thrilling day of WinterNationals competition on Saturday to launch the 2021 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour at NOLA Motorsports in Avondale, Louisiana, the drivers and teams returned to the track on Sunday to do it all over again. A midday shower added a wrinkle in the storyline, and the finals were packed with action. Six drivers completed weekend main event sweeps on Sunday, as Jeremy Fletcher (X30 Senior), Cole Morgan (KA100 Senior), Noah Baker (KA100 Junior), Enzo Vidmontiene (Mini Swift), Gianmatteo Rousseau (Mini Swift) joined defending SKUSA Pro Tour Pro Shifter champ AJ Myers in starting the season with two victories. That said, on more than one occasion, the winners did not cross the line first as pushback bumpers penalties played a role in final classifications.

The Rolison Performance Group sponsored X30 Senior class was the first affected by the light rain that hit the facility at the very end of the Prefinals. Rain began to fall on the opening lap of the 10-lap race and sent the top-three off the track. After a lap of wet running, SKUSA brought out a full course yellow and eventually the red flag to end the session. The decision was made to go to lunch break and come back with a complete restart. The rain shower lasted less than 20 minutes, but the restart of the Prefinal was still run on a very wet track. Connor Zilisch (Nitro Kart / Redspeed) showed his mastery of the tough conditions to take the win and the pole for the main event.

Superkarts! USA returned the site of the 2020 WinterNationals this weekend at NOLA Motorsports in New Orleans, where COVID-19 put an end to the plans for the year’s Pro Tour. The organization and its teams and drivers were back at the facility on Saturday to take care of unfinished business. The opening round of the Pro Tour was completed under cloudy skies with intermittent sunshine, and the racing was all that was expected.
