Three straight in KA100 Senior for Ethan Lampe (Photo: Andres Malovos - @amalovos)
The California ProKart Challenge traveled to the Santa Maria Karting Association facility over the May 18-19 weekend. The Superkarts! USA regional program contested the third round of the 2024 championship program. Enjoying the coastal weather in Santa Maria, California, the event featured one round of competition over two days of on-track action featuring a practice, qualifying, Prefinal and Final format to complete the first half of the 2024 schedule.
An increase in numbers to 30 drivers was welcomed in the KA100 Senior by P1 Engines class with the same result as the previous two rounds. Ethan Lampe came away with his third straight main event victory in the category, completing a sweep in Santa Maria. He began with the fast time in qualifying, posting a 49.137-lap and edging out Aiden Kempf by a slim 73 thousandths. The top two qualifiers exchanged the top spot in the Prefinal before a red flag ended the race after eight laps with Lampe earning the race win. It was a wire-to-wire performance in the main event as Lampe led all 24 laps to claim a third straight victory in 2024. Jackson Menchu won the battle for second over Kempf, with Keagan Kaminski placing fourth with the fast lap of the race. Izaac Gutierrez completed the top-five.

After months of development and fine tuning, IAME USA West today confirmed the initial shipment of the long awaited IAME SSE. The first units are expected to arrive in the United States as early as next week. Orders will begin immediate fulfillment in the order they were received, with boxes leaving the IAME USA West headquarters as quickly as they come in.
“It’s been a long time coming,” remarked IAME USA West and SKUSA principal Tom Kutscher. “If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me when the new engine would be here, I’d be a wealthy man. The demand for this thing is unreal and I couldn’t be more excited to finally have it here.”

20 years of the headline single-speed category at the SKUSA SuperNationals, and 20 different winners. The Pro X30 class began as TaG Senior in 2003 and eventually transitioned to X30 Senior when SKUSA made the move to an all-IAME platform. Despite the many years of SuperNats history , and the over 1,500 in entries who have competed at the event during that time, 20 drivers have etched their names in the history books as winners on SuperSunday.
This year’s field is at 61 drivers, including defending champion Donovan Bonilla (Rolison Performance Group). The driver from Mexico finished third at the SKUSA Winter Series with a win – his only of the season – as he went podium-less at the SKUSA Pro Tour. It was a similar season in 2023, when he traveled to Vegas and left SuperSunday as the winner. Read full story at eKartingNews.com |

A big X30 Senior win on Championship Sunday gave Brit Joe Turney the SKUSA Winter Series title (Photo: OTP)
The final round of the Superkarts! USA Winter Series offered up a day full of ultra-competitive racing and the championship battles, as everyone headed into the main events at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex with different goals. The weather has cooled off a little from Saturday, but while the rain clouds loomed late in the day, it was dry racing from start to finish. Taking ‘Championship Sunday’ quite seriously, British talent Joe Turney scored the main event win in X30 Senior to clinch the title, as did AJ Myers in Pro Shifter. Collin Lloyd emerged with the victory in KA100 Senior and while it did not translate into a Winter Series title, it was his second win of the year and certainly put his name in the national spotlight.
Factory Kart Republic driver Joe Turney (Chad Dokken Racing / DAP) delivered a virtually flawless performance in the Speed Concepts X30 Senior category, beginning the day by topping qualifying over Ryan Norberg (Rolison Performance Group / Kosmic). Turney led from the green in the Prefinal, but both Norberg and Saturday winner Austin Garrison (Speed Concepts Racing / Redspeed) also took turns up front before Turney eventually went back to the lead to lock down the pole for the 22-lap main event. Heading into the final, with his pole position and Prefinal points in hand, Turney was in the driver’s seat for the championship, as Norberg and Garrison needed to win to force his hand.

Finnegan Bayliff secured his first SKUSA Pro Tour victory in KA100 Senior (Photo: EKN)
A warm and sunny day kicked off the 2024 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour WinterNationals at the Orlando Kart Center. Saturday’s racing featured a full round of racing for the Semi-Pro categories while a new era began for the two Pro divisions with Qualifying, Super Pole and Prefinal sessions took place during the evening hours in Orlando, Florida. The highlight of the day was the KA100 Senior main event where Finnegan Bayliff won in a dramatic finish with the Trinity Karting Group driver securing his first career SKUSA Pro Tour victory.
The Sodi Racing USA KA100 Senior category began with rookie Steven Miller (Nash / EOS) leading the 40-driver field in the timed qualifying session with a 56.115 lap time, beating out Collin Lloyd (Inter MS / Kart Republic) and Stephen Eisert (Sodi Racing USA). The Prefinal was a precursor to what we would get in the main event with Lloyd winning on the last lap over Miller and Peyton Phillips (RPM / Tony Kart). The final was two drivers up front after the red flag for Mario Barrios on the opening lap and early shuffling on the restart. Lloyd and Fernando Leque (Supertune USA / Tony Kart) were nose to tail and able to get away from the rest of the field, including Finnegan Bayliff (Trinity / Kart Republic) in third. Once the top two began shuffling for the spot, this brought Bayliff and others back into the mix. As they made their way through the two hairpins at the start of the lap, Phillips moved up to second on the bumper of Lloyd. Entering the sweeper, Phillips made contact with Lloyd’s bumper, sending both sideways. Lloyd pushed to the outside while Phillips was in the middle of the track. Bayliff slipped by both as Luque slammed into Phillips. This allowed Bayliff to lead the final lap, securing his first SKUSA Pro Tour victory. Cameron Weinberg (CDR / Kart Republic) made his way through nearly the entire field after starting 35th due to a Prefinal incident. He was sitting fifth when all this was happening, and was able to knife through the wreck to finish second as Eli Warren (Redspeed) crossed the line in third. A pushback bumper penalty dropped him off the podium, putting James Overbeck (BJR-MDR / Tony Kart) into third after pulling off a 360 degree spin in the air earlier during the race. Kane Martin (Nash / EOS) completed the top-five.
