For over 20 years, Superkarts! USA has been part of the sport of karting in the United States, and the organization formed its own Hall of Fame in 2016 to begin honoring those who have played key roles in its history. This year, SKUSA is proud to announce that the late Fausto Vitello will be inducted into the Hall of Fame to honor his tremendous contributions to not only the organization, but to karting as a whole. Vitello, who passed away from a heart attack in 2006, was the founder of Trackmagic Racing Karts, the San Francisco-based chassis manufacturer that pushed the envelope for American kart builders through 100% commitment to innovation and its culture. Vitello will be joined in the Hall of Fame by SKUSA’s own Stan Bryniarski, who has been a cornerstone workhorse and crusader of the organization for 20 years as a Regional Director, Race Director and now, the current National Director of Operations.

The new season is here and EKN is happy to begin the Trackside tour for 2023, beginning with the Superkarts! USA Winter Series program. The sixth season of the two-event program opens up with two rounds of racing at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex presented by MG Tires facility in Homestead, Florida over the January 13-15 weekend.
The 7/10-mile circuit will be utilized in the counter-clockwise direction for the opening weekend for the 2023 SKUSA Winter Series. Wednesday and Thursday are unofficial practice with Friday hosting five official sessions for testing. Round 1 is set for Saturday, including qualifying, Prefinal and Final. Round 2 is a repeat format on Sunday.
Two weekends in the state of Florida over the next five weeks provides us with a ‘Spring Training’ for the upcoming season, as the SKUSA Winter Series is the opportunity for select drivers either graduating up a division or finding a new home to work out the kinks and get ready for the busy summer schedule. Entries continue to grow with the pre-entries growing above the 230 mark, about 7% higher than last year to open up the racing season for 2023. Read full story on eKartingNews.com |

Utah Motorsports Campus
The 2023 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour reaches the halfway point of the season this weekend with the annual SKUSA Pro Tour SpringNationals. Team and competitors head to the Utah Motorsports Campus for the June 9-11 weekend to contest the third and fourth rounds of the championship program. Following the WinterNationals held at the beginning of April, the national schedule resumes with nearly 190 entries in nine categories set to battle at the Grantsville, Utah facility.
The Utah Motorsports Campus is hosting the SpringNationals for the fourth straight time, beginning in 2019 (absent in 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic). This will be the fifth visit to the 9/10-mile course, with the first coming in 2012 for the SummerNationals that season, when the facility was known as Miller Motorsports Park. All four editions of the SpringNationals at UMC have been contested in the clockwise direction. Friday features five rounds of practice to prepare the competitors for the two days of racing. Saturday hosts Round Three with Qualifying, Prefinal (10 laps) and Finals (20 laps, 18 for Cadets) with Sunday following the same format for Round Four. Read full story on eKartingNews.com |

The Superkarts! USA SuperNationals 26 is officially underway outside the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Following a full day of practice, track layout adjustment, and a wild ending to the on-track action on Thursday, qualifying has set the tone for the remainder of the event – dramatic. The morning group sessions went relatively normal for the four classes setting their grids for the heat races. The afternoon groups hit the track as the sun was setting behind the Nevada mountains and ended with a wild and unique situation that had not been seen before in SuperNationals history.
Pro Shifter presented by PSL Karting was the final class on the order, split up into four groups. The first three were not as dramatic as the final group, hosting 18 of the quickest drivers in the category. On lap two, an incident involving FIA European Champion Danilo Albanese (IM / Kart Republic) brought out a full course caution and eventually the checkered flag. Drivers were put into the scale line, with nearly all drivers unable to complete a lap ‘at’ or ‘near’ regular pace. SKUSA officials debriefed and nearly 45 minutes to an hour later, the drivers from that final session were brought back out onto the circuit for a makeup session in which all drivers clocked in five laps. Prior to that session, Luis Speck (Racelab / TB Kart) was holding the provisional fast time from the Q2 group. Once the final session was completed, it was a GFC Karting 1-2 with Jacob Gulick taking the top honors posting a 42.150 lap. Former SKUSA Pro Tour champion Kyle Wick was second, edging out Speck by 16 thousandths. Canadian Remo Ruscitti (IM USA / Italkart) was fourth with SuperNationals 24 winner Matteo Vigano (PSL / Charles Leclerc) rounding out the fast five. The first half of Q1 including SKUSA Pro Tour champion Marijn Kremers (PSL / Birel ART) – who ended up going from provisionally second to sixth. Read full story on eKartingNews.com |
