The KA100 Master class was introduced at the SuperNationals last year, reaching a sellout field following a strong push by EKN’s own Rob Howden. Now, the category is the only single-speed class for the elder drivers in the paddock after SKUSA dropped the longtime popular X30 Master division that lacked numbers during the registration process. That has brought together 45 drivers – some moving over from X30, some returning from last year’s class debut, and new names entering to become the second winner at the SuperNationals.
Martin Stone (Racing Edge Motorsports / Kosmic) wants to keep it one name in the history books under KA100 Master after SuperSunday. The defending inaugural race winner returns for a chance at a second SuperNationals victory, coming off a win at the ROK Vegas event in ROK Masters and runner-up result in VLR Masters. The top-three from last year’s podium returns with runner-up Renato Jader David (Orsolon Racing / Tony Kart) and Laurentiu Mardan (Tecno Kart USA) seeking a win. RJD is a former winner in the X30 Master class back in 2016, placing runner-up in that class last year to cap off a four-podium streak. Mardan was third a year ago, giving him a second SuperNationals podium result in his last four starts. Read full story on eKartingNews.com |

CRG driver Olin Galli scored a convincing X30 Senior win in Round 3 of the SKUSA Winter Series in Homestead

The Superkarts! USA Winter Series is wrapping up this weekend at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex Presented by MG Tires, and the third round of the four-race series on Saturday provided some incredible action. The 12-turn, 0.7-mile track is being run in the clockwise direction for this doubleheader, and the technical nature of this layout provided more than enough of a challenge for the drivers in the paddock this weekend. Piquet Sports’ Olin Galli (CRG) proved to be the man to beat in X30 Senior, taking the lead midway through the race before pulling away to score the victory. In the X30 Junior and KA100 Junior classes, Italian phenom Andrea Kimi Antonello steered his KartSport North America Kart Republic chassis to dominant wins to extend his victory streak to six straight races to begin the 2020 SKUSA season. Antonelli has not yet been beat in the Winter Series this year and has all but clinched both class championships.
Galli qualified on pole for the Rolison Performance Group X30 Senior class, and led early in the Prefinal before RPG’s Ryan Norberg (Kosmic) assumed the point on lap three, holding the position to take the win to earn the inside front row starting spot for the 22-lap main event. After the initial opening lap chaos that saw Arias Deukmedjian jumping the point, Galli quickly assumed the lead and was never challenged after that, leaving those behind him to fight for the final podium positions. A scrap for the position developed between Norberg and Deukmedjian that came to head on the final lap, as Deukmedjian was able to overtake the point leader and four-time SKUSA Pro Tour for the position. It was a strong performance by Deukmedjian, but the podium for Norberg was his third straight and has positioned him solidly to defend his Winter Series championship on Sunday. Solo Kart USA’s Louie Westover earned his second top-five finish with a fourth-place result while impressive rookie senior Luca Mars (Redspeed) capped the top-five.

The IAME Mini Swift is now the spec engine for the TaG Cadet category in Superkarts! USA competition
The final page of the 2014 calendar is now less than 30 days from being flipped over, and then we’ll welcome the first month of 2015. It was with this in mind that Superkarts! USA was already hard at work planning for the new year well before hosting their season finale in Las Vegas last month, and a number of significant announcements have been scheduled for the coming weeks as a result. The recent release of the schedule for the sixth season of the SKUSA Pro Tour, as well as next year’s California ProKart Challenge dates, have people already planning their ‘15 programs, and this will help the organization continue its growth as it enters its 10th year under the helm of SKUSA CEO Tom Kutscher. The latest news regarding the future of Superkarts! USA is directed at the TaG Cadet division and will bring it inline with SKUSA’s long-term vision for their TaG categories. Beginning in 2015, the organization’s youngest group of drivers will utilize the IAME Mini Swift engine, and SKUSA has put together an incredible trade-in program to make sure that the new focus does not have a negative financial effect on its core group of customers. The Mini Swift, which is a 60cc air-cooled engine that utilizes a centrifugal dry clutch with an electric starter and a Tillotson carburetor, is now the future of SKUSA TaG Cadet racing.

Former SKUSA Pro Tour champion Jake French landed on top of the podium in Pro Shifter (Photo: EKN)
The fifth round of the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour at New Castle Motorsports Park was highlighted by some incredible racing action and more than one drag race out of the I-70 hairpin to the checkered flag. The 11th running of the SummerNationals will provide the cap to the 2021 national championship, and Saturday’s racing only served to set the stage for Sunday’s finale and the crowning of this year’s national champions. In the Pro Shifter class, which boasted a stunning grid of 30 karts including 16 of the top-20 from the EKN Driver Rankings, PSL Karting’s Jake French renewed his title hopes after holding back Andrew Bujdoso for the victory. An uncharacteristic mechanical DNF put point leader AJ Myers on the sidelines during the opening lap, which has blown the championship wide open. The X30 Senior title fight remains in the hands of the Rolison Performance Group, and while the team has three drivers vying for the championship, it was one of their drivers not in the title chase Nate Cicero who pulled steadily away from the stacked field to score his first SKUSA Pro Tour victory.
