The California ProKart Challenge traveled to the CalSpeed Karting Center for the lone double-round weekend of the 2022 season. The June 24-26 event at the Fontana, California facility hosted Rounds Three and Four of the Superkarts! USA regional championship program. Hot California weather greeted the nearly 90 drivers to compete around the ’Sportivo’ layout, starting with a full day of practice on Friday before two full rounds of racing over Saturday and Sunday. In total, four drivers were able to secure double victories on the weekend.

Twenty years ago was the debut of the TaG Senior category during the seventh edition of the SuperNationals. During that span, 19 drivers have won in the 19 different SuperSunday main events, all with unique and memorable stories – representing eight different countries. While this may be the smallest field for the class at the SuperNationals since 2005, one driver will come out of the event as a SuperNationals winner. Just one of the 63 drivers set to do battle has ever claimed a SuperNationals victory in the category, with four others looking for a second career triumph at the largest karting event in the world.
Defending race winner Evan Giltaire is not returning to defend his crown, leaving the pathway for another driver to claim the hardware on SuperSunday. The one former class winner is five-time SKUSA Pro Tour champion Ryan Norberg (Rolison Performance Group / Kosmic). Norberg claimed his only SuperNationals triumph at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2021 to further etch his name as one of the most decorated karters in USA history. He was among the drivers in contention last year, coming up short and having his position taken away following tech inspection. While this year’s effort to claim a sixth SKUSA title came up short despite five podium finishes, he was able to claim a third straight USPKS championship. The second round of the Superkarts! USA Winter Series was run on Sunday under warm temperatures and sunny skies at AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex in South Florida, and the on-track excitement was high with tremendous racing in virtually every category. Arias Deukmedjian (Kart Republic) further cemented his place as an elite driver in the sport, winning both the X30 Senior and KA100 main events. Jeremy Fletcher was not to be denied in X30 Junior, while Brent Crews scored his second win in the Pro Shifter class. The event logged just over 200 entries and served as the kickoff of the 2021 Superkarts! USA national calendar.

With the Superkarts! USA competition season now completed after the running of the much-anticipated SuperNationals XIX at the Las Vegas Convention Center in late November, SKUSA’s staff is now totally focused on putting the finishing touches on the upcoming 2016 season. The sport’s leading program is excited to confirm the dates and locations for the 2016 Fikse Wheels Pro Tour, as well as the dates for the various ProKart Challenge series running in California, Texas/Oklahoma and the Pacific Northwest. SKUSA’s overall class structure continues to evolve, as does the entire foundation, coming on the heels of the recently announced introduction of the new Evinco spec tire program.
The 2016 schedule of the Fikse Wheels Pro Tour is a carbon copy of the 2015 program, as SKUSA aims to produce date equity and consistency. The seventh edition of the SpringNationals will take racers back to the Phoenix Kart Racing Association facility as the month turns over from April to May. After soldiering through wind and heavy rain on Saturday to put the opening round of the 2022 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour in the books, over 200 drivers, their mechanics, and their families were treated to ideal weather on Sunday when blue skies and temperatures in the high 70s were the order of the day. The fifth annual WinterNationals, which was being held for the fourth time at the 1.1-mile, 17-turn NOLA Motorsports Park in New Orleans, Louisiana, was wrapped up with extremely close racing highlighted by several thrilling finishes. Four-time SKUSA Pro Tour champion Ryan Norberg out-gunned his Rolison Performance Group teammate Nate Cicero for the win the X30 Senior, while 2020 CIK-FIA Karting KZ World Champion Marijn Kremers delivered a flawless performance to back up his Saturday triumph with another victory.
