SKUSA SuperNationals XV Prize Package Eclipses $120,000 Mark
Saturday, 05 November 2011 21:39
Now just days away from its biggest event, Superkarts! USA is ready to announce the current prize package for this year’s SKUSA SuperNationals. The 15th edition of the event, set to take place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on November 16-20, will feature one of the highest event purses in its history. Filled with cash, contingencies, inclusion into the Circle of Champions program, and numerous prizes, this year’s total prize package value has surpassed $120,000 – nearly doubling the amount that was awarded one year ago.

The total prize money being awarded, including contingency money available, is a remarkable $44,200. The three ‘Pro’ classes on the schedule – S1, KZ2, and TaG Senior – will see the top-five awarded cold hard cash. The international KZ2 category will once again vie for a $20,000 purse, with an incredible $10,000 going to the victor. Both S1 and TaG Senior will be gunning for $2,000 to each winner, as the rest of the top-five will split up the balance of the $5,000 class purse. Earlier in the year, Honda Performance Development (HPD) confirmed that they would hand out a total of $675 to the top-three finishers in each Stock Moto category (S1, S2, S4, and S5), totaling $2,700. Russell Karting Specialties has set up an event contingency for the top-three finishers powered by IAME engines in KZ2, KF2, TaG Senior and TaG Master. The international categories have $1,750 each up for grabs, while a whopping $4,000 is available in the TaG divisions – including $2,500 to any driver winning TaG Senior or TaG Master utilizing an IAME powerplant.

In addition to the purse and contingency cash for the event, a further $12,000 is waiting for the champions of the SKUSA Pro Tour. Drivers will take their best four results from the five-race schedule, as one drop is allowed. Beginning the season with the two-race SpringNationals in Tucson, Arizona and then the double-event SummerNationals in Grand Junction, Colorado, the SuperNationals will cap off the 2011 series and crown this year’s champions in S1 and TaG Senior, who will each earn $3,000. Second and third in the standings will be awarded $2,000 and $1,000, respectively. For all champions in the eight categories that make up the series, their efforts on the season will earn them the privilege of entering the SKUSA ‘Circle of Champions’ program. All will receive complimentary entry packages for the 2012 Pro Tour – including free entries, race tires, and race fuel and oil – valued at $2,800 each. They will also be given the honor of running the national #1 plate in 2012. The second and third place drivers in the points will run the #2 and #3 plates next year as well, should they remain in the class. HPD also supported the Pro Tour standings for 2011 with $900 total to be awarded to the top-three in each of the four Stock Moto categories, totaling $3,600 in cash – and bringing the overall Pro Tour purse for 2011 to $38,000.

Wednesday, 02 November 2011 08:40
Can you feel it? The tension, nervousness, excitement and anticipation that’s in the air…it is all for the upcoming Superkarts! USA SuperNationals XV. The parking lot of the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas may be partially empty right now, but in less than 10 days, a transformation will take place as the expanse of asphalt will become the site of the biggest karting event of the year. Over 500 drivers from the United States and around the world will come together on November 16-20 to battle for supremacy in 11 categories, eight of which will see the 2011 SKUSA Pro Tour champion crowned.

The big week in Vegas will signify the sixth stop for the eKartingNews.com Trackside Live 2011 Tour. For the third straight year, EKN will be providing live audio broadcasts of the action from the SKUSA SuperNationals. The program will be on Friday with qualifying, and from there, EKN will be live for nearly 24 hours over two days as the drivers post their fast laps in the timed session, work through the three rounds of heat races, and Last Chance Qualifiers to set the grid for the final day of competition. Deadline Approaching for Pre-Entry to SKUSA SuperNationals XV
Friday, 28 October 2011 09:02
In roughly 20 days, more than 500 drivers from all over the world will converge on Las Vegas, Nevada for the 15th running of the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals. The annual event not only hosts the nation’s top competitors, but it will also attract some of the best international drivers for what will be a head-to-head fight for supremacy. The event also signifies the final round of the 2011 SKUSA Pro Tour, which means that there will be season-ending championships on the line for eight of the categories included at this event. With a packed paddock and full fields guaranteed, there is no doubt this year’s SuperNationals is going to be historic. The Superkarts! USA staff has been working around the clock to put the finishing touches on this year’s event at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, and the deadline for pre-entry is closing fast.

The next item on the SKUSA to-do list will be the deadline for pre-registration on Tuesday, November 1 at Midnight. At that time, the SKUSA Store will close for pre-entry, race tire sales, transponder rentals, practice tire sales and event memberships. After November 1, the purchasing of those items and to enter the event (at an increased price of $200 more) will be available only at the track. As announced previously, TaG Senior, TaG Master and TaG Cadet have been sold out and you may only be added to the current wait list for each category. TaG Junior was previously sold out; however, with cancellations and the wait list entries added in, there is still a chance for drivers to enter before it’s officially closed. S2 and S4 are nearing the cap and do not have wait lists, so qualified drivers may still enter these two classes, while spots also still remain in S1, KZ2, KF2, G1, and S5.
