In its continuing efforts to improve its program during the off-season, Superkarts! USA throttled up its commitment to national television exposure by furthering its important partnership with Torque.TV and the CBS Sports Network. The growing sports channel will air the entire Fikse Wheels Pro Tour in prime time, putting the sport of karting in front of countless new faces and racing enthusiasts. The camera crew was front and center at the Phoenix Kart Racing Association facility for the SpringNationals on May 1-3 and two unique highlight shows will be produced from the footage, covering the first two rounds of SKUSA’s national series. The first show from the SpringNationals is now on the official CBS Sports Network schedule, and will air on May 20 at 8:00 pm Eastern / 5:00 pm Pacific. A second airing is also set for 12:00 am ET / 9:00 pm PT.

“For us to continue to advance and to grow Superkarts! USA and the sport, we need to push the envelope and take some chances, and that’s why we elected to invest heavily in this TV package,” offered Tom Kutscher, Superkarts! USA President. “We’re always looking to improve what we do, a little at a time, and we’re approaching the TV package the same way. We spoke with many people about the initial broadcasts from the SuperNationals, and took in the input on social media, and these new coverage shows will have a slightly different approach than what we did for the SuperNationals. This is all a work-in-progress. We’ll keep evolving the TV package and we’re dedicated to expanding it for the future. Our goal is to have coverage like this from now on.”

Last fall’s SuperNationals were filmed and produced by Greenlight Productions, and were then aired in Europe on MotorsTV and throughout North America on the CBS Sports Network. All three shows will also be made available on the new MotorTrendOnDemand.com. Those ground-breaking shows have become the baseline in terms of SKUSA’s approach to television broadcasting, as they were the organization’s first foray into this area with the Fikse Wheels Pro Tour. Using the initial shows as a test bed, SKUSA will continue to evolve their approach as they learn more and more with each subsequent event. eKartingNews.com’s Rob Howden once again provides play-by-play commentary for the racing, working alongside host Kevin Harris.

The 2015 Fikse Wheels Pro Tour will continue on July 24-26 at the New Castle Motorsports Park with the sixth running of the SummerNationals, where the Greenlight Production squad will again be filming for CBS Sports Network. This event is expected to be the largest Pro Tour race in the program’s six-year history, and it will be the first time the race has been held east of the Mississippi since the inaugural year in 2010 when USA International Raceway hosted the first SummerNationals.
