SKUSA Announces Rudolph as Pro Tour Director of Competition
Saturday, 26 March 2011 08:33
Superkarts! USA is proud to announce the addition of karting legend Alan Rudolph to the management staff of its Pro Tour, which is set to kick off the 2011 season in Tucson, Arizona late April with the second annual SpringNationals. The veteran racer and karting instructor will act as the Director of Competition, managing the on-track staff of race directors and corner workers while overseeing the action from Race Control.

“I’m thrilled that we have been able to bring Alan into our program, and I know this will help take our Pro Tour up another notch,” commented Tom Kutscher, Superkarts! USA President. “Alan’s extensive experience as a driver and an educator will make him the perfect link to our drivers, as he knows what happens out on the track and how to communicate with the competitors in order to provide a best platform for racing. He’ll be going to bat for the drivers to make sure the program is providing them with the experience they are looking for. We’re also going to leverage Alan’s significant talents to help work with our Junior drivers, giving them some instruction, guidance and support throughout the year.

Rudolph is the Chief Instructor at the Bondurant Kart Racing School and has raced karts and cars for more than 20 years. His resume is stacked with wins in programs such as the Rock Island Grand Prix King of the Streets, SKUSA ProMoto Tour, World Superkart Challenge and the legendary Quincy in the Park events.

“I am very much looking forward to being part of the SKUSA Pro Tour this year and I am stoked at being presented with this new challenge,” comments Rudolph. “I’ve been on the other side of the fence throughout my career and stepping into the role of Director of Competition is really exciting. I have my thoughts on how this position should be approached, and while I am fully aware of the raised emotions that are often shown during and after on-track issues, it will be my primary goal to provide consistency and reason when managing any decisions. Terry Bybee will be our trackside Race Director and I know that we’ll be able to work very well together.”

Rudolph has been a long-time supporter of the Superkarts! USA program, having run in the ProMoto Tour from its debut in 1998 through to its eventual end in 2004. He won several races on the PMT and was the Eastern Zone Formula S1 champion in 2002.

“The original ProMoto Tour was something special for us shifterkart drivers, taking the sport to a whole new level, and what Tom and Patti are doing with the new SKUSA Pro Tour is just as big,” Rudolph continued. “I’m proud to have been asked to be part of it, especially at a time where I believe it’s getting ready to explode. I can’t wait until the SpringNationals!”
