EKN Trackside: 2020 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour – Weekend One Preview
Thursday, 06 August 2020 08:12
The 2020 Superkarts! USA Pro Tour has been delayed by five months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. What was set to begin in March in New Orleans saw only four rounds of practice completed for the start of the WinterNationals before the government shut down the facility and sent everyone home for what was unknown at the time to be a stay-at-home order. Hopes of the SpringNationals in May at the Utah Motorsports Campus diminished as there was still the unknown about traveling and the state’s status for large gatherings. Now into August, Superkarts! USA has condensed the six rounds of the Pro Tour into two weekends, with each pair of dates hosting three rounds of racing.

The New Castle Motorsports Park in New Castle, Indiana has been working with local and state officials to help provide a safe and social distance environment. That allows SKUSA to conduct the two weekends of racing that will decide the 2020 SKUSA Pro Tour champions. Rounds One, Two and Three are set for August 6-9, all conducted on the ‘Super Mile’ layout that was utilized at the SummerNationals 2019. Rounds Four, Five and Six are scheduled for August 13-16 around the ‘Reverse National’ layout. Read full story on eKartingNews.com

SKUSA ProTour New Castle, Indiana COVID-19 Protocol, and Guidelines
Sunday, 02 August 2020 07:01
To SKUSA racers, supporters and staff, we are all very excited to be able to host and participate in the 2020 SuperkartsUSA ProTour Event in New Castle, Indiana. First and foremost, we would like to thank you for attending our event during these unprecedented times. As of July 27th, Indiana Governor, Eric Holcomb, announced a face covering mandate for the state of Indiana. Our number one priority during these challenging times is to ensure the safety of our participants, staff, customers, and teams. To keep everyone safe during our event, face coverings or masks will be mandated when out of your personal pit space. These mandates are to comply with the Indiana state mandate, CDC, OSHA, and federal recommendations.

We will not be monitoring masks within your own personal tents. However, they are strongly recommended. We will have SKUSA officials around the premises to implement this protocol and keep our racing community safe during our event. We appreciate everyone's understanding and support during this time and are so happy to be able to hold this event and continue with our racing season.

SKUSA SummerNationals Sees SKUSA Reaffirm Their Commitment To Safety. A Bigger Purse. Food. Music, And More.
Wednesday, 29 July 2020 15:22

With the SKUSA ProTour event just days away, Superkarts! USA is incredibly pleased to offer a fun-filled and action-packed group of consecutive events at the nation’s leading facility – New Castle Motorsports Park. With the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, the series is acutely aware this may be the single biggest karting event of 2020 and are planning accordingly.

First and foremost, safety is key. With the recent Indiana state mandate and requirement of face masks, SKUSA will be providing complimentary SKUSA branded face coverings for those who do not have their own. Social distancing and virus mitigation will be paramount for both weekends, with a priority placed on safety above all else. Track proprietors have been collaborating very closely with Indiana county and state officials to work hand in hand on providing the safest possible conditions for the event to occur. The track is also in regular communication with the state excide (Indiana Coronavirus task force) and Henry County Health Department to keep abreast of every breaking development.

“We can appreciate after NOLA the uncertainty and uneasiness in entering a national event,” remarked Tom Kutscher. “Rest assured, every conceivable angle of safety has been considered and the track is working very closely with regulators to ensure there are no disruptions in the festivities. Indiana as a state, are very far along in the reopening process. Currently, Indiana is at a 4.5 reopening stage. Naturally our event will require cooperation from our guests with respects to face coverings and maintaining social distance, but we feel extremely confident in proceeding.”

SUPERKARTS! USA Confirms Details For Upcoming SKUSA Protour Double Header In New Castle Indiana
Wednesday, 15 July 2020 21:54

With the entirety of the 2020 SKUSA ProTour now consolidated into back-to-back consecutive weekends, details are beginning to emerge for both the SKUSA ProTour and some of the supplemental events supporting the dual weekend format.

“With the sport and country on lockdown the last four months, we have received a ton of questions on what we’re going to do following the canceled event at NOLA,” said SKUSA president Tom Kutscher. “Needless to say, finding a solution that was both reasonable and equitable became our top priority as we began planning. Let me tell you this... We’re going to make the 2020 ProTour as kick ass as we possibly can, considering what a mess this year has been.”

As many now know, the format for the upcoming double-header is to consolidate six rounds of ProTour racing into two consecutive race weekends. Such a change requires rethinking everything from the pitting procedure to the purse payout. SKUSA is pleased to say they’ve risen to the challenge.

Superkarts! USA Confirms Next Chapter Of Its National Race Director Role For Abbreviated 2020 Protour Racing Season, Supernationals, And Beyond
Monday, 18 May 2020 06:00

Beaux Barfield brings a stellar motorsports resume to the new Race Directing team.

On the heels of the open letter from SKUSA principal Tom Kutscher, Superkarts! USA is pleased to announce yet another small piece of a complicated 2020 puzzle by announcing the next chapter in series officiating with not one, but two new race directors for the 2020 SKUSA ProTour and SKUSA SuperNationals.

Effectively immediately, SKUSA is tremendously proud to confirm they have procured none other than veteran race directors Beaux Barfield and John Maesky. Both Barfield and Maesky have stellar resumes and long histories in motorsports, in addition to their current roles at the International Motor Sports Association — where the duo has worked together as a team for the better part of a decade.

Other major sanctioning bodies, such as IndyCar, are also familiar with the idea of having 1 or more advisors working with a Race Director to evaluate on-track conduct. The concept aims to provide consistency and an alternative viewpoint to look at all incidents.

“It’s no secret,” said an open and honest Tom Kutscher “the 2020 SKUSA season is unlike anything motorsport has ever seen before. We realize with an entire national season baked into two consecutive weekends; officiating will be of utmost importance. We are pleased to deliver not only one… but two of the best in North America.”
