Superkarts! USA Introduces New Pipe for Stock Moto Categories |
Tuesday, 23 April 2013 11:03 |
![]() “For the last few years, following the closure of RCE Exhaust, a manufacturer that supplied us with one of our initial spec pipes, our Stock Moto program has featured just a single pipe provider,” stated Superkarts! USA CEO Tom Kutscher. “We believe that the single product approach remains the ideal situation, but our racers have been dealing with numerous reliability, quality and availability issues recently, so we felt that it was time to step in and ensure stability in this segment of the Stock Moto equation. By working closely with a new manufacturer, we are presenting a product that we can completely manage and support. We wanted to develop a product that is priced for the karter, and then stand behind it with a warranty, something that is virtually unheard of in the sport. The quality of product that Pro Circuit manufactures is second to none, and they are a professional operation that is committed to motorsports and exhaust production. We’re thrilled to be working with them.” The price for the new ‘SK-1’ pipe will be just $280 USD to competitors, and will be available through selected dealers, which SKUSA will begin announcing this week. SKUSA has pipes hitting inventory now that will be shipped to approved dealers shortly, and production will continue to meet the orders, as they will ship daily to their growing dealer network. The ‘SK-1’ pipe is boxed and shipped in a custom carton to protect against damage. Interested racers are asked to contact a dealer from the list that will be announced this week. Superkarts! USA also asks that any dealer inquiries regarding the new ‘SK-1’ exhaust for the Stock Moto categories be sent to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The focus of the new program is to ensure a quality product for SKUSA’s customers, one that will be available at an affordable price, come with a warranty, and is easily tested for compliance by the SKUSA Technical Staff. A custom tech jig and template have been fabricated, which will make tech a much easier procedure. In 30 days – effective May 24 – the ‘SK-1’ pipe will officially become one of the two spec pipes that are legal for the Stock Moto classes. Both the SK-1 and the RLV R4 will be legal through to the end of the calendar year. Moving forward, the SK-1 will become the sole spec exhaust pipe in SKUSA competition in 2014. “When we begin 2014, we’ll be back to a single spec program that will provide everything that we desire for our racers – quality, affordability, reliability and now, with the new pipe, a warranty that covers any potential manufacturing issues,” Kutscher continued. “It’s a win-win for everyone involved, and gives us the stability that we are looking for.” Superkarts! USA regional racing is ready to get underway all over the country, and the new ‘SK-1’ will see its first official action on May 25-26 during the second round of the Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge at IMI Motorsports Complex in Dacono, Colorado. The California ProKart Challenge has two events already in the books, with round three set for Adams Motorsports Park in Riverside, CA next weekend, May 3-4. The first weekend in May is a big one for SKUSA, as the Rocky Mountain ProKart Challenge and Texas ProKart Challenge will both kick off their 2013 seasons.
