New Documentary to Feature SKUSA Competition
Wednesday, 13 June 2012 12:06

There is a great deal of excitement in the Superkarts! USA world these days surrounding a potential project that could give the sport and our organization an incredible video calling card. John Shofner of Texas, who has already produced a handful of amazing videos from SKUSA events over the past year, has put together an exciting effort that, if funded, would provide the sport with a feature-length documentary film that could easily be the most important piece of marketing that karting has seen in years. Shofner’s plan is to attend this year’s SKUSA SummerNationals and SuperNationals, as well as the California ProKart Challenge Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix, to film and document these events, adding this coverage to footage already logged from the SKUSA SpringNationals and the opening rounds of the Texas ProKart Challenge. John’s focus on the Superkarts! USA organization will certainly be a positive for our style of karting and would help to promote SKUSA racing to a new community of potential racers.

The SKUSA staff is thrilled to be working with John, and we understand how valuable this project could be to the sport.

“John’s vision of the sport is so incredibly dynamic, and each video he’s produced so far has shown karting in a professional and exciting fashion,” commented Tom Kutscher, Superkarts! USA leader. “We all have faced a situation when we needed to educate friends and family on the true nature of karting, correcting those who still think of it as the yard kart and a lawnmower engine. What we do is far different, and this film will be able to demonstrate this like nothing else we’ve ever seen.”

Superkarts! USA will be backing this effort and we commend all of the karting companies and racers who have stepped up to give this project a true shot at getting the green light. If you’re a SKUSA racer or a team owner who has not yet pledged your support, we urge you to do so as soon as possible, even if it’s just $20, as this is the final week to hit the necessary funding of $40,000. You can make your pledge for contribution here:

We are closing in on making this a reality, and we now need the SKUSA racing community to come together to make it happen. SKUSA would like to thank the following companies, who have stepped up in a big way – DRT Racing, MG Tires, ONE Race Gear, and Action Karting.
