The issue of the use and mounting of on-board cameras continues to be a problem. Improper mounting, loss on the track, and difficulty in determining ownership are among the issues present. Accordingly SKUSA is establishing the following regulations, effective 8/1/11:

The only cameras currently approved are the GoPro HD Motorsports HERO camera (product information available at www.goprocamera.com) and the SmartyCam (product information at www.aimsports.com). Other models of cameras may be submitted for approval prior to their use.

Under no circumstances will cameras be allowed on your person or on helmets.

Each camera must be identified with the owners name and contact information (cell phone). Cameras without identification may not be returned.

If the camera becomes detached, involved in or creates an incident, penalties – including loss of positions, loss of points or monetary penalties – may be assessed.

Any camera mounting is subject to inspection by tech personnel and removal if not acceptable.
