Fields are expected to fill up throughout the season for the California ProKart Challenge with six different tracks for the six-round series (Photo:

The California ProKart Challenge season wrapped up at the end of September following another successful year and finale event at the growing Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix. Just three months later, Superkarts! USA is busy preparing for the 2016 season, expected to be among the best championship programs in the country. The 11 categories this season are similar to that in 2015, with the six-race schedule expanded to include six distinct facilities all with their unique characteristics and challenging aspects that will test the competitors of the California ProKart Challenge.

The six Stock Moto categories will remain unchanged for 2016. The addition of the S4 Super Master division in 2015 is gaining momentum for the second season, with former series drivers looking to make a return to the California PKC program. Five TaG divisions remain as well, this year with a 100% move to the IAME X30 powerplant for the Senior, Master and Junior divisions – for the year as well as for future editions of the series, with Superkarts! USA’s commitment to the engine. The Cadet divisions enter the second season with the IAME Swift 60 engine, with Mini Swift (TaG Cadet) reserved for drivers 9-13 years of age and the Micro Swift (TaG Rookie) for racers 7-10 years old.

With the Superkarts! USA competition season now completed after the running of the much-anticipated SuperNationals XIX at the Las Vegas Convention Center in late November, SKUSA’s staff is now totally focused on putting the finishing touches on the upcoming 2016 season. The sport’s leading program is excited to confirm the dates and locations for the 2016 Fikse Wheels Pro Tour, as well as the dates for the various ProKart Challenge series running in California, Texas/Oklahoma and the Pacific Northwest. SKUSA’s overall class structure continues to evolve, as does the entire foundation, coming on the heels of the recently announced introduction of the new Evinco spec tire program.

The 2016 schedule of the Fikse Wheels Pro Tour is a carbon copy of the 2015 program, as SKUSA aims to produce date equity and consistency. The seventh edition of the SpringNationals will take racers back to the Phoenix Kart Racing Association facility as the month turns over from April to May. Announced at the 2015 race, the SummerNationals will also return to the popular New Castle Motorsports Park facility in late July. The 2016 program concludes in Las Vegas once again, as SuperNationals XX returns to the Las Vegas Convention Center for the 20th anniversary of this great event. The following is the official Pro Tour calendar:

The California ProKart Challenge completed its 11th season at the end of September, celebrating another successful season of shifterkart and TaG competition featuring some of the best racers in the western half of the United States. The flagship Superkarts! USA regional program completed its six-event series at the recent Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix on September 26-27. The 2015 California PKC featured over 300 competitors on the season, up nearly 30% from a year ago. Taking on six distinct circuits, 11 drivers rose up above the rest to claim the 2015 California ProKart Challenge championships.

Vemme Kart/Extreme Karting S1 Pro Stock Moto rookie Jarred Campbell led the championship from start to finish, earning his first title as a Senior driver. Campbell opened up the season with two victories, adding a third in Round Five after two straight runner-up finishes to secure the top spot in the standings. Two-time defending champion Billy Musgrave could only muster two podium finishes in six rounds of racing, placing second in the championship chase. Matias Podboj matched his same results as 2014, finishing the year in the third position in the point standings with a best finish of runner-up in Round Two.
