Superkarts! USA has announced an official partnership with Oakley Inc., a worldwide leader in optical, eyewear, and sport driven apparel. The partnership underscores Oakley’s foray into kart racing and precedes the official release of Oakley’s line of karting specific driving apparel.

The partnership will see featured Oakley involvement throughout the SKUSA regional and national programs in the form of podium prizes and promotional pricing for all SKUSA members. The Foothill Ranch based company has also pledged a large commitment to the crown jewel in North American karting: The annual SKUSA SuperNationals.

“Having Oakley on board is tremendous,” stated SKUSA CEO Tom Kutscher. “Their brand is synonymous with precision and excellence, and their worldwide recognition is a terrific step in elevating kart racing to the next level. It’s an honor for the SKUSA organization and an honor for karting in general.”

Alcorn and Corwin Continue ProKart Challenge North Win Streaks

E-mail PDF
It just keeps getting better and better for the Superkarts! USA ProKart Challenge North program. Round #4 at the Jim Russell International Karting Center at Infineon Raceway provided another spectacular event this past weekend – with great weather and a great show being put on by the staff and the drivers themselves on the Sonoma, California circuit. After a popular debut in Round #3, the 3/4-mile national track configuration was run in the reverse direction once again, producing another successful and unique event for this first-year program.

Two drivers have been on their game this season at the PKC North events: Matt Alcorn and Craig Corwin. Both had perfect records heading into Round #4, and despite a few hiccups, they prevailed – with their fourth main event wins on the year. In S4, Alcorn took the pole position and then the provisional heat one victory -- until it was removed in the tech barn. Once he remedied the situation, he bounced back from the tail of the field to the heat two win. This set him on the pole for the 20-lap main event, in which he paced the field to a seven-second victory over Jared Woolf and Alexander Keith.

Corwin was edged in qualifying for the first time on the year by Ethan Wilson, his closest rival. Wilson ripped off a lap just 0.017-seconds faster than Corwin to take the inside of the front row for the first heat race. The start would not bode well for Wilson, however, as he would not make it around for the opening lap, allowing Corwin to pace the field to the win. Corwin would remain on the winning track with a victory in the second heat race, following it up with his fourth main event triumph. Wilson battled back to third in the main, fighting with eventual second place finisher JP Cadoux.
