NEW RULE 3/14/08 -- ROK TT:
While there has been considerable discussion and controversy concerning the TT engine recently, SKUSA has remained unconvinced that the approach some other organizations have chosen is the correct one for our members. Basically one issue to keep in mind is that both organizations that have released significant rule changes run the engine at the same weight as Leopards. SKUSA does not, and has chosen not to implement most of those changes at this time. This will allow heavier drivers to chose engines which may have more horsepower. WKA and IKF both have two differences to their rules from the other two organizations:- A 15 lb weight difference to Leopard engines
- Use of an WKA/IKF legal air cleaner adapter which is now referred to in "Stars" rules as "flat back adapter". This adapter is described in the WKA Tech Manual section 551.2b or IKF Tech Manual section 603.1.3 Note that Tony Kart USA, Tony Kart Florida and J3 Performance have all been made aware of this and are complying.
The WKA released a statement today outlining their experience with the above rules and restating their intent to remain with the existing rules based on the performance comparison to date.
Effective 3/15/08 we will implement the following changes:
ROK TT weight raised to 375# (Senior) or 415# (Masters)
Standard, non velocity stack style air cleaner adapter as described above.
SKUSA is approving the ROK TT for competition at ProKart Challenge events, with the following additional parameters (click here for homologation PDF):
- Fitment of a .1mm head shim
- Timing limited to 20 degrees BTDC
